Make Time for Worship

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been wrapped in stress and overwhelmed with anxiety and had it all put to rest through worship music. It’s such a great way to take your mind off all the stress and refocus your thoughts on the hope in Jesus.

When we worship, walls come down, hearts soften, and gratitude towards God flows naturally. And the greatest thing about it - you can do it almost anywhere. Here are a few ideas for squeezing in some worship music to calm your spirit, position you for gratitude, and ease those stressful moments.

  • SUNDAY Church Service! Spending time in fellowship with your community is priceless. Do whatever you have to do to protect this time. It will not always be convenient, so you have to fight to get there.

  • In your car on the way to…all the things. My kids are accustomed to me scream-singing worship music and they’ve given up trying to shut me up. Now they join in and it’s glorious. If you’re like me, you may spend a ridiculous amount of time in your car - use it for glory!

  • In your classroom on your break! I would shut the door, lock it (yep), turn off the lights, and work in silence for 15-45 min. Turning on worship music while I had these tiny bursts of time helped bring me back to center and let go of any pent up anxiety.

  • In your classroom without words! I did this ALL the time. I taught 4th grade public school mostly, and my kids did a lot of independent work or small groups. I would play instrumental, classical music all the time, so I started playing worship music in instrumental form. My favorite part was watching all the little hearts catch on and sing along. This required boldness - do it.

  • At home! Saturday morning breakfast, cleaning days, while you’re getting ready…all good times to throw on some worship music. Fill your home with sounds of praise- it will fill everyone up and set a tone for your home.

  • While exercising. If you’re not listening to your “pump up” music, put together an uplifting worship playlist. This can also be a great time of in-pouring and idea dumps with you and God! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been on a run/walk and had so many great ideas imparted during this time. Great reason to also use voice memos ;)

There are so many opportunities to fill your ears and your heart with praise and worship! Your enemy is out to destroy you, and he will use every opportunity to disrupt your peace and steal your hope. Don’t let him in. Take time to worship and let it drown out the enemy of your heart.

No matter how busy you are, make this a priority as often as you can.

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord” Psalm 150:6
